Summer Getaway

I'll be the first to admit that I'm the worlds biggest sucker for Living Social and Groupon. They are like the modern day informercial but for the internet. I find myself buying things before I even finish reading the deal. (i.e.-waxing, yoga, restaurant vouchers, ice skating, etc.) My most recent purchase is by far the one I am most excited about. It's a 2 night stay at Adrift Hotel & Spa. This minimalist, eco-friendly hotel is located right on the Washington coast. The deal included a two night stay, an organic breakfast basket at your door each morning, bikes to ride down the boardwalk and a brick oven pizza! I'd be crazy not to jump at this opportunity! When realizing that Living Social sold over 700 of these deals, I knew I had to book early. I'm so glad I did because we were able to get a room with an ocean view.

I must say, I'm pretty proud of this purchase. It didn't even take that much convincing for Jason to be on board. I"m positive that this romantic little getaway is going to be the highlight of our summer.

A love letter

written on 9.16.10

Kate,
My love. I am sorry for the long delay in writing you. You mean the world to me. I am so lucky to have you in my life. You are my passion, my queen, my only true love. I love the way you look at me with your sparkling blue eyes. I love the warmth of your touch and the electricity of your presence. I think about you all the time and miss you more than you can imagine. Being apart even if for a short period of time has left me feeling empty. You're part of my heart and I can't live without you. I long for your soft warm lips and loving embrace every morning I wake up alone. I miss all the small simple joys of being together; sharing dinner, laughing, driving together, watching movies and holding hands. Loving you has always been like an invigorating spring morning, or a new day in my heart. I await our reunion like the oxygen I cannot live without.

Yours forever, in love,

Jason

"All I Need"

Two weeks from tomorrow we're hitting the road with Logan and Michelle to Seattle. This trip has been in the works for quite awhile. We're headed over to the Emerald City to see Radiohead in concert! I am more than ecstatic to go. Radiohead has been a favorite band of mine for years so being able to see them in concert is pretty exciting. This trip is going to be loads of fun. We've traveled to Seattle once before with these two and had a blast so being able to go for a second time is a real treat! Over the past few months we've gotten together, what seems like twice a week just to talk about the trip. I think it's safe to say that we all can't wait to escape from real life for a few days and enjoy some much needed time away from Spokane! This place has been a total buzz kill lately with its crappy weather. It's so nice having something fun to look forward to. It'll be nice to relax, eat good food, explore a fun city and listen to some good tunes with good friends. We'll be counting down the days till it's time to hit the road. I can't wait!

An Irish Feast

For as long as I can remember my mom has made corned beef and cabbage every year on St. Patrick's Day. We Gerber's don't have an ounce of Irish blood in us but it was a tradition that was never broken. I love that salty meal so keeping the tradition alive was a no-brainer for me. Yesterday we decided to have some friends over to feast and to enjoy the holiday together. It was a fantastic evening! There is nothing better than being in the company of good friends. We laughed until our stomachs hurt and then laughed some more. I can't recall how it happened but at some point my costume box came out and the wigs went on! As shown below, fun was had by all. :) It's times like this that make me so grateful for the beautiful friends in my life. I'm already planning the next get-together!

Happenings

Nothing too exciting to report. Lot's of fun has been had in the last week. Here's a few pictures to see what we've been up to-

Saturday lunches with le husband.

Mongolian Grill and indoor smores with our besties.

Jason begs me to go to Panda Express every Sunday after church. I hate that place. He usually can get me to give in though about every 3 months. The food is nasty every time but the fortune cookies never disappoint!

Taking funny pictures of my friends kids.

Making some kick ass Indian food and literally licking our plates clean.

Buying and wrapping lots of gifts!

Having a cupcake tasting party. This was really fun because you get to try lots a flavors without feeling guilty about over consumption! ;)

note-if you follow me on instagram you've already seen 75% of these pictures. Sorrs!

Vintage Swimwear

How gorgeous are the photos above? I've been daydreaming a lot lately about summer and warmer weather. The temperature in Spokane seems to be stuck in the 30's right now. Come on, it's March! So much for spring. :) As soon as the sun decides to show its pretty face I want to do a vintage swimwear photoshoot. I've got the body of curvy 50's pin-up girl. It only seems appropriate to get all dolled up and take some fun pictures!

I found this picture of "Marilyn before she was famous" on the inter-web. This right here is my ultimate inspiration. True beauty exudes from this photo. It's simple and care-free. I absolutely love it.

These pretty little pieces are what I've found to wear. Except they are ridiculously expensive! Help me out here, folks. Where can I find a vintage suit for under $100? I'm trying to be frugal here...
